The six Bonds

While recovering from a lethal wound, Bond learns from the news that MI6 is under attack. The British secret service needs him more than ever to find the person who is responsible.

Even after 50 years after the first Bond movie, the most famous spy in the world continues to enthrall the audience. Thanks to a terrific cast and a talented director, Sam ‘American Beauty’ Mendes, Skyfall’s success is not a surprise. At first, the film resembles an ordinary action movie with gunshots, fights and blasts but things become more exciting as the main characters’ backgrounds come to the surface (M, Bond’s childhood, etc.). 

Daniel Craig did a great job as usual, so no comment. Javier Bardem portrays Silva, a high-profile hacker. Whereas he looks less threatening than in No Country for Old Men, he is still creepy and unpredictable. Some will undoubtedly make the connection between Silva and Jaws (Richard Kiel), the villain of the Spy Who Loved Me. M (Dame Judi Dench) has a more important role this time, which is good…

In short, like everything else, James Bond has been through ups and downs for these 50 years. Some of the films are excellent, some are not. I’ll put Skyfall among the good ones. Let’s hope our friend Daniel will stay at Her Majesty’s service for a long time.
