Carnage (2011, Roman Polanski)

Zachary Cowan hit Ethan Longstreet with a stick, resulting in Ethan losing two teeth. The Longstreets invited the Cowans in their house to come to an amicable agreement. The Cowans admitted their son’s fault and promised to take measures to solve the matter. However, things went wrong after some disagreements over insignificant details.

Christoph Waltz in Carnage

Carnage maybe too long for a dispute but it is worth watching and the actors’ performances are satisfactory. Nancy Cowan (Winslet) is the image of the perfect woman: courteous and sweet. Michael Longstreet (Reilly) appeared easygoing. Penelope Longstreet (Foster) is the frank one, she is trying to be as open as it gets. Alan Cowan (Watlz) is the one who started it all to me: he’s always stuck to his phone, keeps making remarks over Penelope’s words… The development of each character shows them trying hard to remain "civilized" at first before breaking out and display their true colors after being together for a long time. Polanski delivers a masterful work of art in which the fight between the kids is only an introduction to a very satiric theatrical show. Thumbs up to the actors.
