X-men first class (2011, Matthew Vaughn)

Professor X vs Magneto

Charles Xavier (McAvoy) is endowed with superhuman abilities allowing him to read people’s mind. Erik Lensherr (Fassbender) has developed his power through anger and pain, looking for Sebastian Shaw, the man who killed his mother (excellent Kevin Bacon) in the shoah era. When Shaw plans to destroy our world by turning the US and the Soviet Union against each other, Xavier and Lensherr will unite their powers, with other young mutants, to stop the threat.

Another X-men prequel after X-men Origins: Wolverine. This time, Charles and Erik are the main characters and the movie is about how two close friends have turned into enemies. First impression: great cast. James McAvoy (finally he’s “back” and wow Professor X was cute!!!), Jennifer Lawrence (Hollywood’s future star), Rose Byrne, Michael Fassbender and Kevin Bacon who both must have learned foreign languages to fit their characters…Second: excellent script with lots of actions and fun, the story stands and even the connection to the cold war looks real. This movie will answer some questions we had all along
